Note from RCDC Chair: Reluctance of Republicans to adopt Medicaid expansion proposals

The reluctance of the House of Delegates Republican members to adopt either of the Medicaid expansion proposals before them is starting to have real world consequences: note the attached letter from the CEO of the Culpeper Hospital. The announced closure of the Pennington Gap hospital is at least partially because of the failure to expand Medicaid.

I urge you to contact Delegate Webert and Senator Obenshain and encourage them to find a way to adopt Medicaid Expansion.

Share Your Thoughts With Cantor and Congress

Tell Eric Cantor and Congress, “No Cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.”

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare is working to make sure that Congress votes for NO CUTS to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. In that effort, we are having events all over the country to bring awareness to the issue and engage our elected officials in the conversation. Our events are open to the media, and we’ve been getting great press over the past months.

This week, for Veteran’s Day, we would like to remind Congressman Cantor how critical these programs are for our nations’Veterans and their families. From 10-11am, we are inviting Veterans, families and supporters of keeping Social Security and Medicare whole to assemble at the Congressman’s two district offices. We want to show our strength in numbers and for Veterans to share their stories with the Congressman and his staff.

WHAT: Veterans Assembly at Congressman Cantor’s District Offices
WHEN: Thursday, November 10, 2011; 10-11am
WHERE: Culpeper Office: 763 Madison Rd #207 , Culpeper VA 22701 ; Richmond Office: 4201 Dominion Blvd #110 , Glen Allen VA 23060
CONTACT: Please contact Julienne Uhlich at 703-850-8169 or for more information

From all of us at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, we thank our Veterans for their service and look forward to continuing the fight to preserve the programs that are so important to America ’s military families. Please join us on November 10th to remind Congressman Cantor that he needs to fight for our Veterans.

We would like 4-5 people in Rappahannock to come out to the Culpeper office on Thursday morning for an hour or so. We want to get a good crowd to generate some press on Cantor.

Thank you so much,

Julienne Uhlich
