Galante for Delegate Statement On Election Night 2019

Marshall, VA (November 5) – While tonight’s result is not the outcome our supporters and volunteers desired, the focus of this campaign has always been about more than a singular outcome this Tuesday.

“Laura’s candidacy sought to address challenges common to families across rural Virginia and America,” said Sam Falconer. “Laura campaigned the same way she would have represented the district—by listening first, engaging people of all political persuasions, and finding consensus on the daily issues that matter to residents across Fauquier, Warren, Culpeper, and Rappahannock counties.”

The results of this engagement have been measurable in the hundreds of volunteers who joined the campaign to knock on doors, who gave up their evenings to call voters, and welcomed Laura into their homes to meet their friends and neighbors. We are extraordinarily grateful for and proud of their efforts.

“I will keep listening to all Virginians regardless of politics or background about how we build opportunity in rural areas,” said Laura Galante. “The Commonwealth has pressing challenges, and I plan to remain engaged in the important work of positioning our economy, our farms, and our families for the future.”

The results of Laura’s people-first approach have resulted in an outpouring of support for the issues central to the 18th district: expanding high-speed Internet access, expanding technical education, improving access to affordable healthcare, and increasing funding for our local schools.

“I wish Michael Webert well as a representative of the 18th District in the upcoming legislative session,” said Laura Galante. “It is my fervent hope that he will work to address important workforce and infrastructure issues for the district’s working families.”

FRONT ROYAL — As campaign season begins to wrap up, April Moore, D-Basye, appears comfortable in her embattled position running against long-time Sen. Mark Obenshain, R-Harrisonburg.

On Thursday evening, Moore continued her fight to displace the conservative Republican she ran against in 2015. Moore, who was raised in a conservative home and said she lives her life with, what her parents would call “conservative” values, said she was running because Obenshain has shown himself to be a “party man” rather than a representative of the people in Warren County.
