It’s going to be mean. + Already yesterday on PBS Newshour David Brooks said that she was “illiterate in the field of economics”, that “addressing price gouging will lead us into socialism”. + We need tools to counter these attacks! + Are you familiar with Robert Reich’s work? He is a professor, author, lawyer, and political commentator who worked in the administrations of presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and served as Secretary of Labor from 1993 to 1997 in the cabinet of Bill Clinton. + Professor Reich has been very outspoken these past few years about our economic system that keeps many Americans trapped (not just the poor). He wrote that “we must ignore the scaremongering tactics Republicans throw at us. He reminds us that for the last 85 years, Republicans have been yelling ‘socialism’ at every initiative designed to help Americans”. Apparently, even Truman said that “when Republicans use the slogan ‘Down with Socialism’ what they really mean is ‘Down with Progress'”. + Reich created a series of short videos in which he debunks myths about our economic system that keep us blind.
